Tong Lau (Cantonese) are the tenement buildings built in late 19th century to 1960s in Hong Kong, which are a critical part of Hong Kong’s urban history. In this collection, I try to use the concept of building blocks to compose pictures, which taken from different time and places, into a single image, in both real and surreal ways so as to highlight the various characteristic of such iconic buildings.
Ric Tse is a Hong Kong based photographer who has won numerous local photography competitions with 11 champions, including Canon Photomarathon and Metro Photo Challenge (Hong Kong). He works on creative photography and started a photography project “Legography” few years ago. Participating Hong Kong Affordable Art Fair in 2014-2016.
Ric has photographed scenes around Hong Kong, sometimes cultural or nostalgic, sometimes political, and always easily recognizable. His pictures tell stories of Hong Kong.
